Coastal Film Spotlight

Write for us

We welcome thoughtful contributions about coastal film culture, from the way a setting works in a scene to the history of a screen tradition. Strong pieces are specific, readable and useful to viewers, with a clear idea that can be explored without relying on costly gear or unsupported claims.

What we welcome

Pitch close readings of coastal scenes, explainers about screen craft, comparisons of storytelling choices, or well-sourced pieces on film history and seaside settings. We are especially interested in angles that look beyond the familiar postcard view and make room for different coastal places and experiences.

A useful pitch

Include a working title, a short summary of the central idea, the category it might suit and why the subject fits Coastal Film Spotlight. Mention the films or source material you expect to discuss, and flag any claims that would need particular verification. A focused proposal is more helpful than a broad topic or a finished draft without context.

Sending a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please do not include private or sensitive material. A pitch is not a promise of publication; we consider fit, clarity and the distinctiveness of the proposed angle.

Our point of view

A coastline is never just a backdrop

The sea can shape a scene through sound, distance, weather or work as much as through its view. We look for the choices that make a coastal setting feel lived in.
